Diabetes Doesn’t Have Zac Harmon Singing the Blues

Meet Zac Harmon, a Sponsored Podder® and dad who inspires. Born and raised in Jackson, MS, and now living in Dallas, TX, some might say that music has always been flowing through Zac’s veins. Zac’s mom played piano, his dad played harmonica, and he grew up surrounded by blues legends in the historic Farish Street District.
Zac started professionally playing guitar at 16 years old and moved to L.A., at 21 to follow his dreams where he successfully produced and wrote songs for some of the greatest names in music history.
In January of 1988 Zac took on one of the biggest roles in his career when he became a father, and again in May of 1996 when he welcomed his second child.
Zac will tell you managing diabetes on the road is not easy, but after starting on Omnipod® 5 following his son’s recommendation, who lives with diabetes and also uses Omnipod 5, it has gotten easier. Just like he’s found harmony on stage, “When you are equipped with a CGM and Omnipod and you actually have these two devices talking to one other, it creates harmony in your life,” shares Zac. “You can enter different situations, like for me, performing. I feel like I have a guardian watching over me.”
Zac is now an award-winning musician with nine full-length albums and, these days, can be found touring around the world.
When we asked Zac about being a parent, he said: “This was the beginning of me living life for more than just myself. Now, I have become a grandparent in my senior season of life and the joy has doubled. That's why in loving them, I have to love myself and vow that I will take the best care of myself. You see, I don't want to miss one moment with them. I promise that I will make this season, my best season.”
