Our Pod Recycling Program

The program accepts all used Insulet Pods including the Omnipod® Insulin Management System, Omnipod DASH® Insulin Management System and Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System that performed as expected. If a Pod is damaged or does not perform as expected, please do not send it through the Pod recycling program and instead contact our Product Support team for further information. Other devices, controllers, PDMs, and syringes do not qualify for the program and should not be returned.

Returned Pods are first shipped to a specialized facility where they are decontaminated before being sent to an R2-certified and HIPAA-compliant recycling facility that specializes in the recycling of electronics and medical equipment. The Pods are mechanically dismantled to remove the batteries, which are sent to a specialized battery recycler. The plastics and metals in the Pods are then separated using mechanical processes and recycled into a wide variety of products. 

R2 (Responsible Recycling) Certification is the leading standard for responsible electronics recycling. It is granted by an accredited, independent third-party organization and requires annual audits of the recycling facility. Working with an R2-certified partner ensures that the Pods will be recycled in a safe, secure, and environmentally friendly manner.
