Omnipod 5 App for iPhone

The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone does not require a separate prescription. Current Omnipod 5 users will be able to download the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone from the App Store. An in-app tutorial will play, reviewing the differences between the Controller and iOS interface.

Omnipod 5 patients will need to transfer their settings which will restart adaptivity.

To get started, your Omnipod 5 patients will need to:

• Download the Omnipod 5 App from the App Store
• Log in using their Omnipod ID and password
• Transfer their current Omnipod 5 settings during First Time Setup
• Start a new Pod

Your patient will be encouraged to confirm their settings with you

Adaptivity will restart for your existing Omnipod 5 patient who transitions to the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone

After your patient has successfully completed First Time Setup and transitioned to an iPhone, we recommend powering off the Controller and storing it as a back up device as needed. They cannot use more than one device to control their Omnipod 5 Pod at a time.

Your Omnipod 5 patients do not need additional training to transition to their iPhone. An in-app tutorial is required after downloading and logging into the Omnipod 5 App on an iPhone which explains the difference between the Controller and iOS user interface.

Yes, patients will need to change their Pod during First Time Setup when changing to an iPhone. We recommend when patients are ready to get started on the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone, they time this at their next Pod change.

Switching to a new Omnipod 5 device will require patients to go through First Time Setup again. Insulin delivery history from previous Pods will be lost when switching to a new device and adaptivity will restart.

Patients will need to identify their current settings from the Controller and input those settings during First Time Setup on their iPhone.

If your patient is new to Omnipod 5 you will prescribe Omnipod 5 as you do today. To benefit from automated mode, users on the Omnipod App for iPhone must be on a Dexcom G7 series or Dexcom G6 CGM, which require a separate prescription and are sold separately. They will receive an Intro Kit with onboarding instructions to register their device and to schedule training.

Patients will first need to turn on and log in to the Controller provided in the Intro Kit. From there, they will be trained using materials that reflect the iOS interface and can download the Omnipod 5 App on their iPhone.

The Dexcom G7 15 Day CGM is indicated for adults (18+)

Dexcom is in the process of discontinuing Dexcom G6 to focus on delivering the next generation of CGM. Omnipod 5 will continue to support integration with Dexcom G6 for as long as this sensor remains available. For more information, please visit www.dexcom.com or contact Dexcom support.

New Omnipod 5 patients will require a prescription for the Omnipod 5 Intro Kit and Pods and will complete the current onboarding and training process. 

A separate prescription is required for the Dexcom G7 series or G6.

Your patients will receive an update for their Omnipod 5 App on their iPhone through the App store. After updating to the latest version of the App they will be able to connect with a Dexcom G7 Series sensor.

No, if your patients already have been using the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone they will not need to transfer settings when they update their App, nor will not lose any data and adaptivity will be maintained.

The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone does not require new Pods. Please make sure your Pods are compatible with your Sensor.
