No, the Omnipod 5 System does not operate with an internal blood glucose meter. The Omnipod 5 System integrates with the Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7 and FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensors. The Dexcom receiver cannot be used as part of the Omnipod 5 System. Users must use the Dexcom G6 or G7 mobile app* on a compatible device as part of the system. The Omnipod 5 System is compatible with the Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7 and FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensors.

The Omnipod 5 System can be used with or without a Sensor but to benefit from automated insulin delivery, it must be paired with a compatible Sensor. Please discuss with your healthcare provider at the next planned consultation to determine which product is right for you.

Within a short period following full release, Insulet will deploy an 'Over The Air' update that will install new software on your Omnipod 5 Controller allowing you to connect with FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus. Before doing so you should speak to your healthcare professional as a new prescription and training on the sensor will be needed.

Omnipod 5 users considering connecting with a different sensor brand should first speak to their HCP. Connecting a different compatible CGM sensor brand with Omnipod 5 can be done at a Pod change via the Omnipod 5 App on the dedicated Controller. Step by step instructions will be displayed on the Controller on how to connect Omnipod 5 to a new sensor. More information, including 'How to videos' and the Omnipod 5 User guide will be available at www.omnipod.com/connectingdifferentsensor.

Yes, both new and existing users of the Omnipod 5 System can upgrade to use the system with the Dexcom G7 Sensor.

If you’re a new user, you’ll need a prescription for the Omnipod 5 System in addition to a separate prescription for the Dexcom G7 Sensor. Please speak to your Healthcare Professional. Be sure to use the Dexcom G7 mobile app* with Omnipod 5. The Omnipod 5 System cannot be used with the Dexcom receiver.

*Glucose Monitoring Sensor requires a compatible smart phone.

If you are an existing Omnipod 5 user and want to connect to Dexcom G7, please speak to your Healthcare Professional.

Please note: Omnipod 5 Pods compatible with G7 are necessary to use the system with the G7 Sensor. You will find the Sensor compatibility on the Pod tray lid and on the upper right corner of the Pod packaging. Be sure to use the Dexcom G7 mobile app* with Omnipod 5. The Omnipod 5 System cannot be used with the Dexcom receiver. *Glucose Monitoring Sensor requires a compatible smart phone.

You can switch Sensors at your next Pod change using a new Omnipod 5 Pod compatible with Dexcom G6 and G7. Dexcom G7 Sensors are prescribed separately please speak to your healthcare professional.

There are two ways to pair Omnipod 5 with the Dexcom G7 Sensor: 
- Scan the Dexcom G7 Sensor QR code on the applicator using the Controller 
- Type in the 4 digit Pairing Code and 12-digit Serial Number
