No, the Omnipod® 5 System does not have integration with a blood glucose meter. The Omnipod® 5 System integrates with the leading sensor brands.

The Omnipod® 5 System can be used with or without a CGM but to benefit from automated insulin delivery, it must be paired with a compatible sensor. Please discuss with your healthcare provider at the next planned consultation to determine which product is right for you.

No, the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor integration is enabled through an over-the-air software release that is available for all Omnipod 5 Controllers via update. You also need the new Pods compatible with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor in order to use the Omnipod 5 System with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor in Automated Mode. The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor is prescribed separately; please contact your Healthcare Professional to discuss your sensor prescription.

Yes, Omnipod 5 with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor integration requires a new, compatible Pod. Please use any existing Pod supply prior to switching sensor and let our Customer Care agent know about your sensor switch upon placing your next re-order. If you are on automatic deliveries, please call Customer Care to organise an updated Pod supply on your next shipment. With the introduction of the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor integration, there will be new Omnipod 5 Pods compatible with both the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor as noted on the upper right corner of the box. The Omnipod 5 Pods compatible with Dexcom G6 and G7 do not support the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus or FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor. The Omnipod 5 Controller displays glucose readings every 5 minutes which will continue with this integration. While the 1 minute glucose data is not displayed, there is one exception: if a 5-minute reading is missed and a 1-minute sensor value is available during the following cycle, the app will display the 1-minute value to ensure continuity of glucose data.

The connectivity experience with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor integration is similar to that of the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor integration. While maintaining line of sight between Pod and sensor remains crucial, some key differences help improve performance. With the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor, the Pod receives a glucose reading every minute and can display any of those readings within a five minute interval, rather than relying solely on the fifth minute reading. This supports improved continuity of glucose data.

No, you will not be able to scan the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor with the Libre app in case of missing sensor values in the Omnipod 5 Controller. However, we have implemented updates on how sensor and Pod communicate to help improve connectivity performance.
