Omnipod 5 Compatibility with the LibreLinkUp app

The solution allows FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus data from the Omnipod® 5 Controller to be passed to the LibreView cloud, enabling Caregivers to access this data through LibreLinkUp app. 

LibreLinkup app now supports Omnipod 5 for Caregivers in the UK and Netherlands. Insulet is working with Abbott Diabetes Care to bring this solution to further countries that have Omnipod 5 integrated with FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus, however we do not have further details at this time. 

The new Caregiver solution is expected to be live in the UK and Netherlands at the start of Q3’25 for Omnipod® 5 users connected with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus. Insulet is working with Abbott Diabetes Care to bring this solution to further countries that have Omnipod 5 integrated with FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus, however we do not have further details currently. 

Omnipod 5 integrated with FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus users can share their glucose data with connected caregivers in the LibreLinkUp app. 

Omnipod 5 / FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus users can link their online Omnipod accounts and LibreView accounts by navigating to the Account Linking page within their online Omnipod account. Users will also receive an email informing them that the functionality is available with further instructions on how to share their data with Caregivers via the LibreLinkUp app.

Omnipod 5 users should access their online Omnipod account by going to www.omnipod.com and clicking on the ‘Login’ link.

Within the ‘Account Linking’ page of the online Omnipod Account, Insulet will provide a link to Abbott Webviews, allowing the user to log in and manage their LibreLinkUp Caregiver connections at any point in the future. 

There are no substantive changes to the LibreLinkUp (LLU) display.

Users will not be able to view their glucose data in the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus app when using Omnipod 5, unless they scan their sensor with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus app when they will see a "one off" glucose reading at that moment. Users will be able to view their data on their Omnipod 5 Controller and in their Glooko data management system.  All sensor specific actions and alerts/alarms for the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor must be managed through the Omnipod 5 Controller.

Any alarms that the Omnipod 5 user experiences will not be sent to their Caregivers LibreLinkup app. The Caregiver will receive the glucose readings and events that include only CGM started and CGM deleted. The LibreLinkUp app will be generating alarms based on the readings provided and the user settings in the LibreLinkUp app. 

Yes. The user can go to their online Omnipod account and within the ‘Account Linking’ page be able to unlink their online Omnipod account from their LibreView account. 

If the Omnipod 5 Controller goes out of range from the Pod, no data is transmitted. Once the connection is reestablished, live data can flow from the Controller to the Omnipod Cloud and then to the Caregiver. Data from the period when the Omnipod 5 Controller was out of range is not shared in LibreLinkUp. The Caregiver will only see current glucose data during successful connections between the Pod and Controller. 

 Insulet is working on a solution to resolve the historical data gaps seen in the LibreLinkUp app. In the meantime, should an Omnipod 5 / FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus user wish to share all historical glucose data with their Caregivers, they can scan their active sensor with their FreeStyle LibreLinkUp app which will display the last 8 hours of glucose data in the Caregiver’s LibreLinkUp app. 

To reduce the gaps in data a Caregiver receives, we recommend that the Omnipod 5/ FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus user keeps their Omnipod 5 Controller in communication range with the Pod. 

During normal operation the Controller and Pod should be within 1.5 metres (5 feet) of each other. Depending on the location, the communication distance may handle separations of up to 15 metres (50 feet) away 

Caregivers set their alarms in the LibreLinkUp app, therefore if a glucose reading that would initiate an alarm is missed, the Caregiver would not receive the alarm. 

One reason why your Caregiver may not be able to access your glucose readings on LibreLinkUp is that you may be on an older version of the Omnipod 5 Software. Omnipod 5 compatibility with the LibreLinkUp app is only possible with Omnipod 5 app SW version 3.1 and higher.
