Adam Smith: Life in the spotlight. Diabetes in the background.

Hello, it’s Smithy*!

"I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 30. This was a pivotal time for me, as incredibly, it was the exact same year I became a full-time TV presenter.

Everything changes from diagnosis. Living with diabetes is more than just a physical condition. For years, I also struggled with my mental health whilst navigating all the extra daily decisions of managing type 1.

Fast forward to today and my busy life in the public eye, as a husband, and as a father, has been made so much more manageable thanks to the Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System."

How Omnipod Fits in My Life:

SLEEP

I cannot express the impact it’s had on my sleep. My glucose levels are so much more stable overnight, meaning my sleep has improved dramatically and I’m ready to face whatever is ahead the following day!

BUSY SCHEDULE

It fits seamlessly into my hectic schedule – I don’t have to worry about injecting at stadiums, in the studio or whilst travelling on busy trains. It’s so easy to use.

RAISING AWARENESS

The visibility of wearing my Pod on TV, during major interviews, while hosting events, or just out and about, always starts positive and important conversations about type 1 diabetes.

“Omnipod 5 has given me back a freedom that I thought diabetes had taken from me. I no longer live around diabetes – I live my life alongside it, on my terms.”

My top 3 things about Omnipod 5:

  • No more multiple daily injections – it’s discreet, easy to use and great on the go!
  • More headspace – less daily decisions, less diabetes admin.
  • Improved outcomes – personally, my glucose levels have never been better, even though it feels like I’m doing much less work.
