Omnipod® NDSS Subsidy
Access pathways, pricing, and required documentation for healthcare professionals
The NDSS partially subsidises the ongoing cost of Omnipod® 5 and Omnipod DASH® Pods for your patients living with type 1 diabetes. This guide outlines eligibility criteria, pricing, access pathways, and the role of the NDSS Insulin Pump Consumables Form.
Who is eligible for the NDSS Subsidy?
Individuals may be eligible for NDSS subsidised Omnipod Pods if they:
- Live with type 1 diabetes and are registered with the NDSS.
- Have an NDSS Insulin Pump Consumable Access Form completed by a diabetes healthcare professional, nominating Omnipod® as the insulin pump.
- Are registered as an Omnipod 5 or Omnipod DASH user under their NDSS profile.
Omnipod access is available through two pathways:
Pathway A — Without Private Health Insurance (No lock in)
Patients can start with a no lock-in subscription directly through Omnipod Australia. Once subscribed, your patient is registered as an Omnipod user and becomes eligible for NDSS subsidised Pods.
Subscription payment to Omnipod Australia (per box):
- $185 Omnipod 5
- $168.27 Omnipod DASH
NDSS co-payment^ paid at the pharmacy (per box):
- $35.30 general

Pathway B — With Private Health Insurance
If your patient’s private health insurance policy covers Omnipod 5 or Omnipod DASH (listed under the insulin pump category), the health fund typically covers access to the Omnipod system for the duration of the individual’s benefit period.
