What is the Omnipod® Insulin Management System?
The two-part Omnipod® System is a tubeless, waterproof1 insulin pump that may help simplify the management of your insulin-dependent diabetes.
The Omnipod® System’s tubeless design can help you to live your life, and manage your diabetes, with freedom, comfort, and convenience. The small, waterproof1 Pod and the handheld Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager communicate wirelessly2 to deliver continuous3 insulin based on your personal settings.
Customisable insulin delivery settings to give you what you need, when you need it.
Insulin pumps work by continuously delivering insulin at set and variable rates, mimicking the insulin release of a healthy pancreas. The Omnipod® System delivers insulin in two ways:
- Basal rate: A small, constant supply of insulin is delivered automatically at a personalized, preset rate around the clock.
- Bolus: Additional doses of insulin can be delivered when you need them, either around mealtime or to correct high blood glucose.
How does the Omnipod® System work?
You can wear the Pod anywhere you would administer an injection. Placement is easy and the cannula inserts automatically and insulin delivery begins at the touch of a button.
You use the Omnipod® PDM to conveniently and discreetly communicate3 with your Pod, adjusting insulin doses anywhere you are.
Please consult with your healthcare provider to understand if the Omnipod ® System would be a suitable treatment option.
The Pod is a small, tubeless, wearable and waterproof2 device that you fill with insulin and wear directly on your body.
Its durable, waterproof2 exterior shell houses a built-in 200-unit insulin reservoir, angled infusion set, automatic inserter, delivery mechanism and power supply. You can place the Pod anywhere you would normally give yourself an injection, for up to three days of non-stop insulin delivery1
The Pod includes a small, flexible cannula that inserts automatically with the push of a button.
It delivers personalised doses of insulin into your body based on the set and variable rates that you program into its handheld companion, the Omnipod ® PDM.
The Pod communicates wirelessly3 with the Omnipod® PDM to program insulin delivery.
The Pod communicates via Bluetooth® wireless technology3 and can be worn comfortably and discreetly under your clothes, while carrying the Omnipod® PDM separately in a pocket, backpack or handbag.
The Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager
The handheld Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager wirelessly2 manages your insulin delivery based on your settings that you programme.
- You can wear the Pod comfortably and discreetly under your clothes while carrying the Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager separately in a backpack or purse. The Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager needs to be within 1.5 metres of the Pod to deliver a bolus, but does not need to be kept in proximity for basal insulin delivery after activation.
The Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager has a built-in FreeStyle blood glucose (BG) meter.
You can use the built-in FreeStyle blood glucose meter to check your blood glucose levels as often as needed.
The information from your Omnipod® Personal Diabetes Manager can be uploaded directly to diasend®.
Accessible both online, diasend® stores your blood glucose, insulin and carb data, as well as information from your BG meter, continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and fitness tracker. Glooko's diasend® clear reports and charts give you the information to make better decisions about your insulin management.
