What changes will I see in the Operating System update to my Controller?
Your Controller will receive an Operating System update with background performance enhancements. There are no visual changes.
Do I need to update my Insulet provided Controller with the latest Operating System update (received on March 13th) if I am using a compatible smartphone?
The Operating System update only affects the Omnipod 5 Insulet-provided Controllers. If you are a compatible smartphone user, updating your Controller from time to time is important for maintaining it as a backup device. However, you do not need to do this immediately. We recommend powering on your Controller and following the on-screen prompts to install any available updates. Depending on the last time you updated your Controller, you may be prompted to complete several software updates. Upon completion you can power off your device.
How do I install the Operating System update when available on my Controller?
You will receive a notification on the screen when the update is ready to install. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. It is important to ensure you have adequate battery levels and strong Wi-Fi connection prior to accepting the update. Your Controller battery level must be above 40%, or above 20% if your device is actively charging.
If you are ready to install the update you can select 'Update Now'. If you are not ready to install the update you can select 'Not Now' and update at a time convenient to you.
You will not have access to the Omnipod® 5 App on your Controller, including the ability to bolus, while the update is installing. Normal use of the Omnipod® 5 App will resume upon completion of the update. Basal insulin will continue to deliver in the background.
Can I delay or opt out of the Operating System update on my Controller?
We always recommend installing updates available to you as soon as you are able to ensure you have the latest software and features.
When the update is available a notification will present on the screen and you will have the option to install at that time or delay the update.
If you are not ready to install the update you can select 'Not Now' and update at a time convenient to you.
Please note each time you select 'Not Now' a notification will reappear after 72 hours until the update is successfully installed.
I selected 'Not Now' when I received the notification to update my Controller and I'm now ready. How do I install the update?
If you chose 'Not Now' you can manually update at any time.

Tap the notification bell
Tap the update notification
Tap ‘Update Now’
Simply follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
How long will it take to install the Operating System update on my Controller?
The update should take a few minutes depending on your connectivity. It could take longer to install the update with a weak connection.
Do I have to be connected to Wi-Fi to install the Operating System update on my Controller?
Yes, you do need to be connected to Wi-Fi to install the update.
If you are not connected to Wi-Fi when the update is available, you will be prompted to connect to Wi-Fi before you can install the update.

Do I have to pause insulin delivery to install the Operating System update on my Controller?
You do not need to pause insulin delivery or adjust insulin delivery settings to install the update. The Controller will not update while a bolus is being delivered. Basal insulin will continue to deliver in the background. Normal use will resume upon completion of the update.
